Relatives of those killed at Columbine High School want a judge to overturn a ruling that dismissed all but one claim against the local sheriff's department and school officials. The families allege that the recent publication of one of the shooters' diaries reveals that authorities could have done more to prevent the tragedy.
Eric Harris' journal entries, written more than a year before the murders, describe how he and Dylan Klebold planned to detonate hundreds of bombs around houses, roads, and gas stations. Attorneys for the families have requested another hearing arguing that if authorities had properly investigated, "they would have found this diary, pinpointing the exact date of the attack."
