Two people died and three others were injured when the boat they were riding in collided with a rock-lined jetty off of Pass-a-Grille Beach, Florida last weekend. A spokesperson for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which is investigating the accident, said the 25-foot 1989 Cabo was traveling forty miles per hour when it crashed into the pier. Investigators report that the deck separated from the hull upon impact, instantly killing the captain and another passenger. Whether alcohol was a factor has not been determined. Authorities say the boat was decorated with Christmas lights, which may have obstructed the captain's view.
