The family of an incarcerated Michigan woman who was injured when she leapt from a jailhouse balcony is suing officials of the Macomb County Jail for gross neglect. Family members say Patricia Rose, 37, has bipolar disorder and was receiving improper care at the jail. She had not taken her medication at the time of the accident.
Rose's attorney claims that since she had been jailed before, officials should have been aware of her medical requirements. Several suicides have been reported at the Macomb facility during the past two years.
