A jury awarded $100,000 last November to a woman who was injured when she tripped over a broken sidewalk while walking in New York City. The Plaintiff, Eva McFadden, claimed the city was responsible because construction officials knew of the sidewalk problem at least a month before the accident, yet failed to repair the walkway in a timely manner. The Plaintiff contended the broken sidewalk was too large to bypass. McFadden suffered a left ankle fracture. She will undergo ankle surgery later this year.
