Head Injury and Compensation: Jury Awards Woman $539,000

A jury recently awarded a New York woman $539,000 for injuries she sustained when a kitchen cabinet fell on her head. The plaintiff filed suit against the owner of her Manhattan apartment building, Huguel Corporation, and the building's management company, Dermer Management, Inc., after she was diagnosed with permanent neurological problems that resulted from her head injuries. The plaintiff's ailments include short-term memory loss and concentration lapses.
