Four of the nation's largest airlines, American, United, Continental and Northwest, are facing separate lawsuits filed by five passengers who were removed from flights last year in the wake of the September 11 attacks. Michael Dasrath, Edgardo Cureg, Aseem Bayaa, Hassan Sader and Arshad Chowdhury, all of either Middle Eastern or Asian descent, say they were the victims of racial profiling and discrimination by airline officials. The men, who are being represented by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and a law firm specializing in civil rights, say they hope the lawsuits will make the airlines implement proper training procedures for pilots and flight crews to help them better identify who is a security risk.
