July 18, 2002

A New York jury recently awarded $20 million to a construction worker who fell through a ductwork hole while working at a Federal courthouse in Islip. Brian Mahoney, a 36-year-old ironworker, suffered severe spinal injuries when he fell several feet after the ladder he was descending broke through plywood covering the hole.
