Victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks filed a $1 trillion lawsuit Thursday against several organizations linked to Osama bin Laden's terrorist network. The plaintiffs, known as Families United to Bankrupt Terrorism, consist of family members of those killed during the attacks as well as firefighters and other emergency workers injured during the cleanup and rescue operations.
Defendants named in the lawsuit include the Saudi bin Laden Group, a construction company in Saudi Arabia owned by Osama bin Laden's brothers, three Saudi princes, seven international banks and the government of Sudan, which has been linked to terrorist activities. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
