Doctors in Hong Kong are becoming increasingly aware of the black market availability for Viagra. These doctors warn of the dangers of buying the drug from black market buyers, explaining that impotence is often a sign that some other medical condition exists. Without a proper exam from a doctor, many patients will not be made aware of other important medical issues.
Many men take the anti-impotence drug as an aphrodisiac and do not concern themselves with the possible side effects or drug interactions. In fact, one cardiologist in Hong Kong treated three patients who suffered heart attacks after taking Viagra. "None of the three men realized that they had heart problems when they took the drug," commented Dr. Doug Ho.
Viagra is not an over the counter drug; it is only available with a prescription from a doctor. Many men, however, can find the drug on the Internet. Despite the fact that it is illegal to sell drugs online without a license, lawmakers agree that it is almost impossible to track down the culprits since no paper trail exists.
Online sales also lead to another problem for men who want to take the anit-impotence drug: fake pills. Many men have found that they do not receive Viagra but a placebo instead. Due to these facts, Hong Kong doctors are urging lawmakers to create tighter laws for the sale of Viagra.
