A Rhode Island superior court judge has granted attorneys access to the site of a horrific nightclub fire that killed dozens of people and injured nearly 200 more February 20. Plaintiff attorneys representing the families of victims who perished in the tragedy will be allowed to inspect the site using the aid of forensics, fire experts and cameras. Superior Court Judge Alice Gibney scheduled the inspection for Wednesday.
Ninety-eight people were killed when the blaze swept through The Station nightclub in West Warwick shortly after the popular 80's rock band Great White began performing. Investigators believe the group's pyrotechnics set fire to soundproof foam insulation covering the club's walls. An intense debate is ongoing over whether the band received permission to use fireworks during the show.
