Venezuela's consumer protection agency has requested that the Venezuelan attorney general ban the sale of Ford Explorers in that country. The Venezuelan agency blames the for 37 deaths in 50 serious accidents since August 2000.
The president of Ford criticized the request, claiming that the Venezuelan agency's investigation of the Ford Explorer was "biased." Ford, and its former strategic partner Bridgestone - Firestone, have accused each other for the unusually high accident rates associated with the Explorer.
