The Doubletree Hotel in the Old Town section of Pasadena, California was in for a surprise when a Metropolitan Transit Authority bus jumped the curb, struck the side of the building and destroyed a support column of the hotel. At least eight people were listed in critical condition after the accident, and firefighters at the scene treated many of the passengers. Between 25 and 40 people were taken to local area hospitals for further treatment.
