A San Diego man is suing Motorola, Sony, and his cell phone carrier after he developed brain cancer in the area where he routinely held the phone to his head. Gibb Brower is only 41, yet doctors say he will be lucky to reach his 42nd birthday. Mr. Brower used his cell phones in his private landscaping business. The job, which often kept him on the road, was made much easier through the use of cell phone technology. However, in hindsight, Brower would have avoided the devices. "It was easier logistically" to use a cell phone rather than a conventional phone, says Brower. "From day one, I was worried about contracting brain cancer because of earlier reports . . . but I was assured by the people I got the phone from that it was safe."
