
On January 15, 2001 a Delta Airlines flight from Kansas City to Orlando, Florida was forced to return to Kansas City and make an emergency landing after smoke was detected in the cockpit. Once on the ground the 87 passengers evacuated in inflatable chutes. One person suffered minor injuries during the evacuation. Crewmembers aboard Delta flight 2589 noticed the smoke shortly after takeoff.
