Three Passengers Die on Cruise Excursion

July 20, 2001

The captain of a Cabo San Lucas glass-bottom boat will be charged with involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of three American tourists. Paulina Armijo, 54, of New Mexico, Elizabeth Steven, 64, of Alaska, and Dorothy Farnman, 32, of California, all drowned when the glass-bottom boat capsized in heavy surf.

Police claim that 27-year-old boat captain Arias Elenis failed to supply life jackets to his passengers.

The three victims were in the middle of a weeklong Carnival Cruise.
