The United States military is not the only opposition Osama bin Laden faces. The terrorist, his al Qaeda organization, and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan have been named as defendants in several lawsuits stemming from the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. For instance, family members of two workers killed during the attacks recently filed suit in Federal court in the Southern District of New York.
Attorneys for the families maintain that there is a "realistic" chance of collecting money from the terrorists. In addition, the attorneys say their clients feel they now have "an opportunity to be part of the (terrorism) response."
