Violent Children & Teenagers: Overview
On average, seven young people are violently killed each day in this country. From the tragic and well-publicized shootings at Columbine High School, to the ever-increasing violence of the inner cities, young people today seem to be more violent and aggressive than ever.
Researchers can point to several environmental factors that contribute to the youth violence epidemic. For instance, weak bonding, ineffective parenting, exposure to violence in the home, and a climate that supports aggression and violence have all been cited as aggravating factors of youth violence.
