Triple S Management Corporation (SSS)

Triple S Management Corporation (SSS), a Blue Cross and Blue Shield provider and the top insurer in Puerto Rico, is under investigation for corrupt business practices. A class action lawsuit filed on behalf of several groups of patients, medical doctors, medical facilities, pharmacies and laboratories in September 2003 accuses the dissolved company and its subsidiary Triple C Inc. (TCI) of underpaying or not paying the plaintiffs for medical services and products that they provided under the companies' medical plans. According to the lawsuit, around 700,000 subscribers of Triple S Management Corporation and Triple C Inc. were forced to pay higher premiums and co-payments but failed to receive appropriate health care services.

The defendants reportedly acquired control over the non-profit charitable assets of Triple S Management Corporation to deprive the plaintiffs and class members of the health care benefits and services they should have received from the use of those monies, such as: lower premiums; lower medication and laboratory costs; and, insurance coverage for all, without any discrimination, including reasonable professional liability coverage for all doctors and medical coverage for handicapped persons. Triple S Management Corporation and Triple C Inc. allegedly gave or received kickbacks in exchange for contracts or for Triple S Management Corporation services and distributed Triple S Management Corporation non-profit charitable assets among themselves and their associates by means of illegal emoluments, overpaid and unjustified service contracts, unreasonably high salaries, social activities, and travel and meal expenses.

If you or a loved one have been victimized by Triple S Management Corporation or Triple C Inc., it may be important to contact an attorney who can help protect your legal rights. Please keep in mind that there may be time limits within which you must commence suit.
