Pro Tech cab guards are under scrutiny after a Lamar County, Alabama jury awarded $12 million to the family of a man who was killed in a trucking accident. Pro Tech guards are designed to keep a truck driver's cargo from intruding into the cab. In this instance, however, the Pro Tech guard installed on the son of the plaintiff's truck suddenly failed after a group of logs hit the device. Several logs entered the cab resulting in the man's death. Attorneys and experts argued that the weight of the logs was well within the legal minimum requirements. Safety groups are asking for an immediate investigation into the 30,000 Pro Tech cab guards now installed on trucks across the United States.
