Oxytocin
Oxytocin is a hormone used by women before and after pregnancy. The drug's main effects include the stimulation of milk ejection, the control of labor, the control of bleeding after delivery and the stimulation of uterine muscle contraction. Oxytocin is available in nasal solution and injection forms. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Oxytocin in 1980.
Potential side effects of Oxytocin include, but may not be limited to, nausea, vomiting, difficulty breathing, headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, rash, irregular heartbeat and weight gain.
