Plavix / Clopidogrel Bisulfate
Plavix, also known as clopidogrel bisulfate is indicated for the prevention of second stroke in patients with hardening of the arteries. Plavix, belonging to a group of medications known as antiplatelet drugs, prevents platelets from clumping together during blood clotting, reducing the chance of thrombosis. Plavix comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken once a day. Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 1997, Plavix is made by Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Potential side effects of Plavix include, but may not be limited to, upset stomach, rashes and/or itching, headache, constipation, diarrhea, flu-like symptoms and general allergic reactions.
Plavix has been linked to liver and bile disorders.
