Respirator Masks

Companies selling respirator masks used by coal miners for protection from toxic substances are under attack as dozens of lawsuits allege the products are defective and may lead to serious lung and airway disorders. In December 2003, Western Kentucky coal miners filed lawsuits against several manufacturers of respirator masks, including 3M Co., Cabot Corp., Aero Corp., Flexo Products Inc. and Mine Safety Appliances Co., alleging their product failed to protect them from inhaling fine dust while mining coal. A number of miners now suffer from black lung disease and silicosis.

Companies that manufacture respirator masks have been named in lawsuits for years. Asbestos industry workers who develop serious disorders such as asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma often blame defective respirator masks. Over 84,000 workers have reportedly filed claims against 3M Co.

If you have developed a lung or airway disorder because of a defective respiratory mask, it may be important to contact an attorney who can help you protect your legal rights. Please keep in mind that there may be time limits within which you must commence suit.
