Symmetry Bypass Connector

A new device used in coronary bypass surgery is facing increased scrutiny by health officials after being linked to a high rate of heart attacks, severe angina and other adverse medical events. The Symmetry Bypass Connector, which allows surgeons to attach leg vein grafts to the aorta without sutures and without clamping the aorta, has been used in hundreds of coronary bypass surgeries.

According to a report published in the January 2004 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, at least five patients implanted with a Bypass Connector have died of a heart attack within 6 months of surgery. Eleven vein grafts were found to be completely blocked and difficult to clear with angioplasty.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has received reports of graft narrowing and leakage associated with the Symmetry Bypass Connector. Patients have also reportedly suffered from respiratory failure because of complications with the heart device.

If you have suffered injuries due to a Symmetry Bypass Connector, it may be important to contact an attorney who can help you protect your legal rights. Please keep in mind that there may be time limits within which you must commence suit.
