Vanadium Exposure: Overview
Vanadium exists as a yellow-orange powder, dark gray flakes, or yellow to rust brown crystals. Long-term exposure may cause respiratory problems and exposure to between 7 drops and 1 teaspoonful of vanadium may cause sudden death. Vanadium is often found in coal ash, a byproduct of coal burning power plants. The substance has been known to contaminate water supplies.
