Racial Discrimination: Overview
Researchers estimate that over 150,000 people are wrongfully fired from their jobs each year. Many of these wrongful terminations are carried out by racist employers against people of color. Such actions exacerbate minority poverty rates and perpetuate America's legacy of workplace discrimination. For instance, the median African American family income is approximately $500 per week, while the median family income for white families exceeds $700 per week.
