Bacteria are the largest class of creatures on earth and are comprised of single cells with no nucleus. They are the smallest free-living organisms in nature. Bacteria are responsible for 90% of all hospitalized infections in developing countries and cause the most serious infections humans are susceptible to.
Bacteria may yield to antibiotics, drugs that are used to cure many infections including, but not limited to, pink eye, Lyme disease, pneumonia, urinary infections, kidney infections, and strep throat. Bacteria are not responsible for viral infections. As such, they do not cause colds, influenza, AIDS, or other common infections.
