
Anxiety is the body's response to stress. While a certain amount of anxiety is normal and even helpful, high levels of anxiety can become debilitating. The anxiety disorder is the most common psychiatric disorder, affecting approximately 5% of the adult population each year. Women are twice as prone to anxiety disorder as men.
The panic attack is a heightened level of anxiety that may manifest itself with physical symptoms. Unfortunately, anxiety and related panic attacks can be an unwelcome side effect of certain drugs and a consequence of traumatic events.
