Transposition of the Great Arteries / TGA: Overview

Transposition of the great arteries, also known as TGA, is a rare yet serious birth defect. Infants born with TGA have the aorta and pulmonary artery reversed. This is a serious problem as a normal aorta is designed to send blood from the heart to the rest of the body while the pulmonary artery should send blood to the lungs. It is possible to correct TGA through surgery.

A recent study in the American Journal of Epidemiology found that pregnant women who come into contact with certain weed killers and rat or mice poisons may increase the risk of their infant being born with TGA. If your child suffers from TGA and you suspect the condition was due to exposure to pesticides or herbicides, it may be important to contact an attorney who can help you protect your legal rights. Please keep in mind that there may be time limits within which you must commence suit.
