
Arthritis is a condition that is characterized by a painful and sometimes debilitating inflammation of the joints. One type of arthritis is caused by infection, however the cause of the other type, rheumatoid arthritis, remains uncertain. The inflamed joints caused by arthritis may be painful, tender and warm to the touch.
