Gout Drugs: Overview

Gout is a painful inflammation of the joints caused by an accumulation of uric acid. Excessive uric acid may cause monosodium urate crystals to form in the joints causing the inflammation. Gout often attacks the joint in the big toe where the pain can be agonizing. Gout tends to occur more often at night. Certain drugs such as Colchicine and ibuprofen may help alleviate pain associated with gout.
