Children's Clothing: Overview
Clothing items made for children should be designed differently than clothing made for adults. Apart from the obvious size difference, children's clothing designers must remain vigilant in their choices of fabrics and accessories. For instance, drawstrings can become deadly nooses and loose buttons can lodge in throats. The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) regulates children's clothing, and the agency takes action against several manufacturers each year. For instance, in 1999 CPSC records show at least 318,200 units distributed were recalled.
