Chorionic Villus Sampling

Chorionic Villus Sampling is a prenatal procedure where a sample is taken from the outside of the gestational sack by suction. Chorionic Villus Sampling is used to detect congenital defects. The sample is studied by examining the DNA, enzymes and chromosomes. Chorionic Villus Sampling does not detect all abnormalities, and the procedure can be risky. Complications of Chorionic Villus Sampling include, but are not limited to, rupture of the amniotic membrane, miscarriage, infection and bleeding. If any of these occurs you should contact your doctor. Additionally, it is possible that your doctor may have performed the Chorionic Villus Sampling improperly.

If you suspect medical malpractice, it may be advisable to contact an attorney who can help you protect your legal rights. Please keep in mind that there may be time limits within which you must commence suit.
