Duract is a painkiller (analgesic) manufactured by Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories and approved by the Food & Drug Administration in 1997. The drug was removed from the market in 1998 after nearly seventy Duract patients died, many from liver failure. Duract seems particularly harmful to the liver when taken in excess of ten days.
