Posicor / Mibefradil
In 1997 the FDA approved Posicor, a drug used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain. Posicor, manufactured by Hoffman-La Roche, Inc. was removed from the market in 1998 after causing at least 143 deaths. Many of these deaths occurred suddenly after the patients suffered heart arrhythmias. Additionally, Posicor was particularly dangerous when taken in combination with the following drugs: Cordarone, Hismanal, Vesture, Vesture, Neoral, Sandimmune, Cytoxan, Norpramin, Erythrocin, Ilosone, VePesid, Tambocor, Eulexin, Halfan, Ifex, Tofranil, Mevacor, Mexitil, Orap, Rythmol, Cardioquin, Quinaglute, Quinidex, Zocor, Prograf, Tamoxifen, Seldane, Mellaril, Velban, Oncovin.
