Alendronate: Overview
Alendronate is an osteoporosis drug manufactured by Merck & Company. Since Alendronate is a bisphosphonate, it may help to reduce bone fractures (by increasing bone mass for instance).
The drug can irritate the esophagus and care must be taken in order to avoid such irritation. Recently, researchers discovered that taking Alendronate in combination with the popular arthritis drug Naproxin may greatly increase the risk of developing stomach ulcers.
