Xeloda / Capecitabine

Xeloda is an antimetabolite and is used to fight breast cancer. The drug is manufactured by Roche Pharmaceuticals.

In November 2000 Roche issued a statement warning that Xeloda should not be given to those patients who have significantly reduced kidney function. The use of Xeloda in those patients who have mildly to moderately reduced kidney function should be monitored closely. Additionally, in October 2001 the FDA announced that a so-called "black box warning" had been added to Xeloda's label. The new label warns of potentially serious complications associated with the concomitant use of Xeloda and Coumadin (warfarin), an anti-coagulant. Xeloda may adversely interact with the blood thinning medication.

See a doctor if you are concerned about your use of Xeloda. If you have experienced serious side effects associated with Xeloda, it may be important to contact an attorney who can help you protect your legal rights. Please keep in mind that there may be time limits within which you must commence suit.
