Gemfibrozil / Lopid

Gemfibrozil, also known as lopid, is a drug used to lower cholesterol and triglyceride (fat-like substances) levels in the blood. Recently, researchers discovered that using Gemfibrozil in conjunction with Baycol, another popular cholesterol medicine, may increase the risk of developing myositis and rhabdomyolysis, potentially life threatening muscle and kidney disorders. Symptoms of both myositis and rhabdomyolysis include, but may not be limited to, muscle pain, weakness, tenderness, fever, dark urine, nausea, and vomiting.

See your doctor if you have experienced serious side effects when taking Gemfibrozil or Baycol. In addition, it may be important to contact an attorney who can help you protect your legal rights. Please keep in mind that there may be time limits within which you must commence suit.
