Dodge, Plymouth & Chrysler Minivans - Fuel Problems: Overview

Nearly a year and a half after DaimlerChrysler first recalled over one million minivans because of a potentially dangerous fuel leak, the auto maker recently announced that it will finally begin to repair the problem. The recall was initially announced in September 2000 before Chrysler had formulated a plan to mend the vehicles' fuel lines. After determining that a defective seal often resulted in leaks, a special clamp was designed to rectify the problem. Unfortunately, the replacement clamp also failed to prevent leaks. Chrysler subsequently developed a new clamp that appears to be more effective. All 1996 through 1999 and select 2000 model Dodge Caravan, Grand Caravan, Grand Voyager, Plymouth Voyager, and Chrysler Town and Country minivans are subject to the recall.
