Aller Relief Chinese Herbal Remedy is used to alleviate symptoms associated with the common cold and the flu. In January 2001 the FDA issued a recall of Aller Relief bottles marked with lot numbers 003480 and 0006480. The FDA found that the product contained aristolochic acid. The acid has been shown to cause cancer and kidney failure. Aller Relief has subsequently been reformulated to exclude all aristolochic acid.
